Exchange Calendar

The exchange during the year requires compliance with an Exchange Calendar, which is normally as follows:

• In many countries, the administration is flexible enough to handle the exchange throughout the year. The period of placements may vary according to country and the length of placements are agreed with Employers. At the present time about one quarter of the offers received are long-term offers. The exchange is employer-driven. During the autumn each IAESTE Member and Co-operating Institution contacts local Employers interested in offering placements to foreign students. The Employer is expected to remunerate the student in line with local student salaries.
• All Offers of placement are collated nationally and are exchanged in a series of bilateral meetings with other Members and Co-operating Institutions during the Annual IAESTE Conference which takes place in January. Employer requirements are carefully discussed and monitored. Between February and the end of March students are selected for Offers and nominations are sent to the receiving countries. Only one student is selected per Offer. From April to June Employers accept students and Members and Co-operating Institutions make arrangements for work permits and accommodation. Depending on when placements are due to start, acceptance documents are sent by the receiving country.
