IAESTE Annual Conference 2008 In January 2008 IAESTE celebrated 60 years of exchanging students all over the world with a total of 322,181 students benefiting from an IAESTE placement during those years. Under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin al Hussein and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the 60th Anniversary Conference was held at the Dead Sea in Jordan and distinguished guests at the Opening Ceremony included diplomats as well as the Presidents and Deans of Jordanian Universities. This was also an auspicious occasion for IAESTE Jordan as they celebrated 30 years in our Association and it was the first time that the Annual Conference had been held in an Arab country.  The special guest, His Excellency Professor Omar Shdeifat, representative of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, welcomed the 273 participants from 81 countries to Jordan and provided information on the Jordanian Higher Education system.  During the week long Conference special events were organised to celebrate the occasion, which included the 60th Anniversary Party, the International evening and Gala Dinner which recognised individuals who had made a significant contribution to the work of IAESTE in its 60 years of existence. Our thanks to IAESTE Jordan and the University of Jordan for their hospitality and commitment to hosting the biggest milestone in our history to date. We look forward to continuing to serve Employers, Academics and students in the years that lie ahead.  |
