	NEWS 2007 General Secretary’s Visit to Oman At the invitation of IAESTE Oman, the first Full Member of IAESTE A.s.b.l. in the Gulf Region, the General Secretary travelled to Muscat in early May and enjoyed the hospitality of Sultan Qaboos University. As well as holding meetings with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the General Secretary was also given the opportunity to give a presentation to the Deans of Agriculture and Science who expressed an interest in including their students in the IAESTE Programme. Representatives from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar flew down to meet the General Secretary and to learn about possible participation in IAESTE. The visit also allowed the National Secretary of IAESTE United Arab Emirates, who had been unable to attend the Annual Conference in Portugal in January to receive her Certificate of Associate Membership from the General Secretary. The highlight of the visit was a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University who pledged financial support for the upcoming 60th Anniversary Conference in Jordan in January 2008.
