	NEWS 2007 IAESTE Annual Conference 2007 The 59th Annual IAESTE Conference was held in the Sana Metropolitan Hotel, Lisbon. Portugal from 20-25 January 2007. 238 delegates from 77 countries participated in the week long Conference which was also attended by representatives from ISIC, Worldskills, Telelogic and FISITA. The Honorary Conference President, Professor Manuel Heitor, Secretary of State of Science, Technology and Higher Education attended the Opening Ceremony and in his address stated that, in the context of the unique challenges that Europe is facing in developing its human resources in science and technology, this Conference was particularly important. Outside of the Plenary and Conference Sessions, IAESTE Portugal arranged several events which were most enjoyable. These included a visit to the Leziria Grande Riding School, a sightseeing tour of Lisbon with visits to the ancient Jeronimos Monastery and the very modern Parque das Nacoes as well as to many of the old quarters and famous squares and the Farewell Gala dinner, held in the Quinta do Roseiral outside Lisbon. Our thanks to IAESTE Portugal for their excellent organisation and hospitality throughout the Conference where a total of 7531 traineeships were exchanged among the Members and Co-operating Institutions.
