62nd Annual Conference in Poland

The 62nd Annual IAESTE Conference was held in the Radisson SAS Hotel, Warsaw, Poland from 16-22 January 2009. 251 participants from 76 countries participated in the week long Conference which was also attended by representatives from Alstom, CDEFI and FISITA. The Honorary Conference President was Dr Zbigniew Klos, one of the founding members of IAESTE Poland and a member of the Honorary Committee for its 50th Anniversary celebrations.

In his speech, Dr. Klos highlighted the activities and achievements of IAESTE Poland over the past 50 years and he emphasised the continued relevance and value of IAESTE as a powerful Organisation promoting mutual understanding and goodwill as well as offering technical and professional experience.

Besides the Plenary and Conference Sessions, IAESTE Poland arranged several events which were most enjoyable. The 50th Anniversary of IAESTE Poland celebrations, which were held at the Warsaw University of Technology, included speeches by representatives of IAESTE Poland and Anniversary greetings.

The International evening was held at a student club at the Technical University and in addition to the meal provided by IAESTE Poland, national food and drink from around the world were enjoyed by everyone. A highlight of the evening was the demonstration of Polish wedding traditions and dancing.

Participants were taken on a sightseeing tour of Warsaw which focused on the city’s history and architecture while the Gala Dinner was held at the Warsaw University of Technology.

Our thanks to IAESTE Poland for their organisation and hospitality throughout the Conference where a total of 7502 traineeships were exchanged among the Members and Co-operating Institutions.
