3000 polar bears. 2500 humans.

This weekend will take you to 78 degrees north to one of the most northern settlements in the world, Longyearbyen on Svalbard. Svalbard means the land with the cold coast, and is about midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. The islands were first taken into use as a whaling base in the 17th and 18th centuries, after which they were abandoned. Coal mining started at the beginning of the 20th century, but now research and tourism have become important supplementary industries.
We can offer you the experience of a life time in the beautiful and wild arctic nature. Kayaking, mountain hiking and fjord cruise in the midnight sun are some of the activities. In addition to remarkable nature, we will also experience the legendary nightlife in Longyearbyen. This is for sure an opportunity you shouldn’t miss! And if we are lucky, maybe we will catch a glimpse of a polar bear?
July 6, 2013 – July 7, 2013
This week, our travelling theme is rather traditional or antique. We will visit the palace of Kings from Joseon dynasty as well as Insadong (인사동) which is the street of art and handcraft of Korea’s tradition. You may get bored just looking through the site of traditional things? No! Hongdae street where the night starts for youngsters will keep you awake! So why not join us?

The Isle of Arran is the most southerly and most accessible of all the Scottish Islands. Due to the Highland-Lowland dividing line that passes through the centre of the isle, the two halves are distinctly different with the south being flat and lush whilst the North half being sparsely populated and mountainous – hence being known as being like Scotland in miniature!

There are many beautiful things to see and do, we have picked out some highlights. Leaving from Glasgow we travel to Ardrossan. From here we will get the ferry from Ardrossan to Arran.
We will have a guided tour of the world famous Arran Distillery and our own private whisky masterclass. The afternoon will be spent at Lochranza on the beach or walking and looking at the castle. Dinner will be provided at the accommodation. The night time entertainment will be a relaxed bonfire on the beach.
Sunday will start with a trip to the ancient standing stones on Machrie Moor (above), followed by a walk along the beach to the mysterious Kings Cave. We will then return on the ferry with a final stop at Europe’s largest wind park, the 539MW Whitelee Windfarm.
