3000 polar bears. 2500 humans.
This weekend will take you to 78 degrees north to one of the most northern settlements in the world, Longyearbyen on Svalbard. Svalbard means the land with the cold coast, and is about midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. The islands were first taken into use as a whaling base in the 17th and 18th centuries, after which they were abandoned. Coal mining started at the beginning of the 20th century, but now research and tourism have become important supplementary industries.
We can offer you the experience of a life time in the beautiful and wild arctic nature. Kayaking, mountain hiking and fjord cruise in the midnight sun are some of the activities. In addition to remarkable nature, we will also experience the legendary nightlife in Longyearbyen. This is for sure an opportunity you shouldn’t miss! And if we are lucky, maybe we will catch a glimpse of a polar bear?
